CERN is the world’s leading center for nuclear physics. Tours to CERN are especially useful for young people who link their future with natural sciences and research.

Students from the UK, Germany, France and elsewhere are regular visitors, while for Swiss schools being close to this scientific wonder is a tremendous advantage.

UkraineIS Chairman Sergiy Vakarin continued negotiations with CERN scientists and had a fruitful discussion with a group of students from Switzerland and their teacher Raschid Diallo.

Ukrainian teachers and students have participated in study tours to CERN several times under the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine programs.

The Large Hadron Collider has been closed for an upgrade but huge amount of data available from previous runs is still waiting for research, as Dr. Lawrence Krauss informed Sergiy Vakarin during his visit to Ukraine.

Sergiy Vakarin also visited Bern to attend top education event WorldDidac, present innovations in Ukrainian education and visit Albert Einstein’s house in Bern. WorldDidac Bern 2018, conducted at BernExpo, featured 270 exhibitors from 77 countries.

Finnish exhibition was the highlight of the WorldDidac 2018. The Finnish education system is often called the best in the world. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, Mrs. Anita Lehikoinen spoke at the workshop “Finnish Educational Innovations for Life-long learning”. In 2018 Finnish Ministry of Education signed a contract with the Ukrainian counterpart, Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, and started a EUR 6 million project, The New Ukrainian School, aimed to reform the Ukrainian education.

The host of the event, SwissDidac featured many interesting innovations. SwissEdTech Collider presented many cool startups. Amazing Swiss educational technologies included the Augmented Reality app for anatomy students from Xpanda, use of modern microscopes in education etc.

UkraineIS raises the international profile of Ukrainian innovative organisations in the education sector and conducts topical events on hi-tech education in Ukraine, the EU and Switzerland.
